Abstract:The objective of this research was to determine the contamination of infant formulae, follow-on formulae and baby junior foodstuffs by PAHs: 4 compounds from the group of light PAHs listed by EPA and 15 compounds listed by The Scientific Committee on Food UE. The research material constituted commercially available infant formulae and follow-on formulae including infant milk and follow-on milk, and baby junior foodstuffs such as lunches and soups. In the majority of the products analysed, 4 light PAHs constituted 100 percent of the overall content of PAHs. The results obtained pointed out a very low content level of the compounds studied. Benzo[a]pyrene were detected only in two kinds of soups. With regard to the maximum allowable content limit of benzo[a]pyrene in the tested group of products, it was explicitly proved that the products analysed fully met the EU food law requirements
